Today, we received the news that our campaign is being attacked by a multi-million-dollar deception campaign in an effort to mislead, scare, and confuse Ohio voters. A group of anti-abortion extremists launched over $5 million dollars of TV ads across Ohio called "ProtectWomenOhio." They are not protecting women but are a threat to them.
This campaign is full of false information to mislead Ohio voters on the newly drafted "The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety" amendment that will enable patients to make their own healthcare decisions free from government interference.
Ohioans deserve to make their own decisions about their unique circumstances in consultation with their families and their doctors. We won't let these extremists make false claims in their ads or even in their mission to attempt to control women's bodies.
The ad is demonstrably and totally false. There is absolutely nothing in the amendment that mentions or supersedes Ohio's parental consent laws.
Their intentionally deceptive ad is the beginning of a multi-million-dollar disinformation campaign designed to raise unsubstantiated fears and distract from the fact that the amendment will ensure Ohioans have access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion, and preserve the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship.
Let's make sure their campaign doesn't deceive anyone.
