Public comments can be submitted through Monday directly to the Federal Consumer Finance Protection Bureau which has the power to change this rule!

Were you convinced to use a credit card or CareCredit to pay the debt? If yes, what were the consequences?
Did you deal with threats of collection for unpaid bills? If yes, how did this affect you?
Did the debt go to collections? If yes, how did this affect you?
Was it put on your credit report and if so, did it harm your credit, creating issues with acquiring housing, work, other credit applications, such as a auto loan, and/or impact your credit cards interest rates and/or minimum monthly payments?
Do you know of others or have family members who have been dealing with Medical Debt issues and would like to comment on their behalf?
How did the medical debt affect your health - physical and emotional, work, education, socially, and/or relationships - family, friends, romantic, and/or future plans?
Were you forced into bankruptcy or credit counseling?

Update from People's Budget CLE
It has been 12 days since we launched our campaign on May 26th on Public Square. We couldn't do this without all of the amazing people power that is activated right now. With democracy on the line with the special election in August, and some mischaracterizations about the details of the proposed charter amendment, it's been a wild, exciting, nerve wrecking ride.
WE NEED YOU!
- We have 27 more days to collect 15,000 total signatures to ensure we have enough to qualify for the November ballot, and we need all the help we can get!
- Pick up a booklet from NEOCH to collect signatures. NEOCH is at 3631 Perkins Ave, 3rd floor. PB CLE is there Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm. Call/text me to coordinate or reply to this email.
- Sign up for a 2- hour volunteer shift at Parade the Circle, Larchmere Rocks the Block, or an upcoming event here: www.mobilize.us/pbcle
HOW MANY SIGNATURES DO WE HAVE?
- We've got 260+ booklets that are out on the streets. 60ish of them have been returned, and 54 have been validated by our awesome data volunteers, Steve and Chantal. Of the 54 books we've checked, we have almost 2,000 signatures so far!
