We are excited about this upcoming election, November 7.
First and foremost, we need to get everybody out to vote YES on Issue 1! Join the coalition and volunteer to help turnout the vote. Reproductive Rights are on the ballot. Sign up to join Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights. We must do everything we can to win this!
Voting information and deadlines.
We have some absolutely wonderful progressive candidates running across Ohio that will be on the ballot.
There are too many to share all their images, but we are sharing a link to each of their websites so you can volunteer if you are local to them.
Remember, local elections matter! Get involved, donate and spread the word. We can stop extremists if we support great candidates.
Some great news but young activists in Shaker Heights:
Shaker PAC withdraws police reform ballot measure
The Shaker Citizens for Fair Ticketing PAC has withdrawn a police reform charter amendment for the November 2023 election in Shaker Heights after reaching a compromise with the city.
Why it matters: The proposed amendment, undertaken by teenage activists in response to disproportionate ticketing practices, would have beefed up a nonviolent crisis intervention team, established a civilian oversight board and created a digital records repository.
Driving the news: Shaker Heights City Council passed a resolution at its meeting Monday night adopting a framework for "Maintaining a Safe and Just Shaker."
- The resolution, which will be pursued in lieu of the ballot measure, is the result of a series of conversations between the city and the PAC.

In Cleveland, we encourage everyone to vote yes on Issue 38. City Council had a chance to include Participatory Budgeting but refused. There was some strong support, but not enough and the Mayor did support it.

On November 7, Cleveland voters will vote on whether to adopt a charter amendment that would give residents the ability to decide how 2% of the city budget is spent using participatory budgeting, or a People's Budget. A People's Budget process has been used in hundreds of cities across the country. The People's Budget would privilege everyday Clevelanders over the wealthy and well connected who have had outsized sway in City Hall for far too long. The People's Budget emphasizes streets over stadiums, the creativity of residents, and deepening the participation and leadership of marginalized communities in our city.
