It's Team GiveGreen here with an update on a critical and very competitive race: Angela Alsobrooks (MD) is fighting to represent Maryland in the U.S. Senate. And her competitor, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, is notoriously anti-climate.
We know Big Oil and other corporate polluters will be doing everything they can to flip this open seat and elect Larry Hogan to the Senate. We cannot let that happen — if we lose Maryland the Senate majority will be at risk. Donate today to help keep this seat under pro-environment leadership » 
Alsobrooks has taken tangible action to address the climate crisis and improve our environment. If elected this November, she will make history by becoming the first Black woman to represent Maryland in the Senate. Here are just a few reasons why she is our August Spotlight candidate:
- Advocated for expanding tax credits for clean energy
- Fought to hold corporate polluters accountable
- Pushed for increased funding to clean up and protect the Chesapeake Bay
This climate champion also has the experience necessary to be a climate leader in the Senate: She is the current Executive of Prince George's County, and during her time in the position she issued an Executive Order for the county, setting ambitious targets to reduce the 2005 emission levels by half before 2030 and net zero by 2045.
She also initiated investments in electric vehicles and sustainable building design to move towards a greener future, in addition to implementing a county-wide composting program to reduce and reuse organic waste.
