Canada's Recognition of a Palestinian State and What You Can Do
Dear Activists,
The recent recognition of a Palestinian state by Canada is both timely and deeply concerning. While we, as Canadians, take pride in supporting justice and human rights, this decision comes at a moment when it is seen as rewarding terrorism rather than demand accountability from those who seek to destroy Israel and deprive Jewish Canadians of their legal rights.
Instead of conditioning recognition on the release of all hostages and the disarmament and surrender of Hamas, Canada's decision appears to legitimize a terrorist organization that has brought suffering and violence not just to Israelis, but to Palestinians as well. By doing so, it sends a dangerous message: that targeting Jews with impunity, whether through acts of terrorism abroad or antisemitic intimidation and violence here in Canada, results not in consequences but in victory. This fuels more hatred and emboldens those who foment Jew-hated on our campuses, in our streets, and throughout society.
Even more troubling, this recognition disregards Israel's sovereign right to assert jurisdiction over territories that remain disputed - territories to which Israel has legitimate historical and legal claims. By ignoring Jewish indignineity, presence, and ancestral ties to Judea and Samaria, Canada has chosen to erase our people's connection to our ancestral homeland, undermining the prospects for a negotiated peace.
Our government claims to stand for security and stability, but this decision does the opposite, rewarding extremism and contradicting Canada's own commitments to combat hate. .
Just this past Friday, you received an email outlining Canada's security framework and its efforts to combat hate—but this act of recognition runs directly counter to those efforts, empowering the very forces of extremism that sow inequity, division, and violence. That's why it's critical that you act now.
Jew-hatred in Canada is at an all-time high. Harassment, vandalism, physical violence, and online intimidation increasingly targetJewish Canadians, leaving our community vulnerable and unprotected. Yet, Canada still lacks a unified, enforceable system to guarantee safety and civil rights protections for us.
As Canadian Jews, we deserve a government that reflects our values, our history, and our commitment to peace, security, and justice. Each and every one of us has a voice in this matter. I urge you to take action, reach out to your Member of Parliament, and ensure that our country's leadership does not turn a blind eye to the urgent realities both here at home and abroad.
Please consider using the framework we sent out previously as a guide for your meetings: Combatting Jew-Hatred in Canada : A National Framework that Extends Beyond the Jewish Community

Together, we can advocate for the Canada we deserve—a country that truly supports peace, security, and justice for all people.
Sincerely,
