Over the past month, the Trump Administration escalated their national campaign of terror against immigrant communities and Americans nationwide — this time in Minneapolis. They continue to attack the values we hold dear, including the rule of law and our right to free speech and assembly. And once again, these attacks led to a tragic loss of lives. Instead of ending their campaign of violence, the Trump Administration paired their violent attacks with an attack on voting rights. On Saturday, Pam Bondi used her position as head of the Department of Justice to demand that Governor Tim Walz turn over the state's voter rolls and public assistance data in exchange for ICE and Border Patrol agents leaving Minneapolis. This unprecedented demand is a direct attempt to undermine the rule of law and democracy in the United States.
