The Consequence of Tolerating Jew-Hatred

March 12, 2026

Today, a terrorist attacked Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, as children were attending school inside. A vehicle was rammed into the building. Shots were fired. Explosives were allegedly found in the vehicle.

Let's be clear about what this was: terrorism. Any official who refuses to use that word should be removed from office.

This is not a surprise. This is the inevitable consequence of a country that has spent years tolerating, enabling, and even celebrating Jew-hatred. We watched as organizations targeting Jews were given tax-exempt status, university platforms, and seats at tables of political power. We watched campus administrators negotiate with mobs calling for Jewish genocide. We watched celebrities promote and normalize violence against Jews. We watched the mayor of New York City open the doors of Gracie Mansion to Jew-haters. We watched attack after attack, after attack. Violence in our streets. We watched prosecutors undercharge - or not charge at all - crimes targeting the Jewish community. We heard words, but saw no action on Jew-hatred. And we said: this will have consequences.

Today is the consequence.

No other religious group in America faces this. No other minority community buries its dead and repairs its shattered windows with this regularity, while the country asks them to be patient and accept more police cars outside their schools. More police presence is not a solution. It is crisis management. The barn is on fire. We are done being told to be grateful for the fire hose.

We need accountability. Comprehensive, systemic, and prosecutorial. The organizations that have spent years radicalizing individuals, funding anti-Jewish agitation, and organizing the infrastructure of hate did not pull the trigger today. But they loaded the gun and indoctrinated the shooter. Federal prosecutors must investigate these networks as the criminal conspiracies they are: follow the money, pierce the nonprofit shields, and charge the funders and organizers alongside the perpetrators.

The platforms must go. The funding must be cut. The stage must be denied, whether that stage is a university auditorium, a city hall, or a social media feed with millions of followers.

The Jewish community of America is the most targeted religious minority in this country by every metric the FBI publishes, year after year after year. We have demanded action. We have filed complaints, lobbied legislatures, testified before committees, and marched in the streets. We are still marching.

The failure to protect Jewish civil rights in America is not a passive oversight. It does not come from ignorance. It is a choice. And we need to hold every official, every institution, and every organization accountable for that choice. Before the next school is attacked.
